“Mr. Sondheim's
astonishing score takes staples of American folk, pop and
ceremonial music and turns them inside out...Listening, as
sweet notes slide into dissonance, you may feel as if your
own brain has slipped off the rails.” – New York Times
Just in time for the
2008 elections— Part vaudeville extravaganza, part exposé
and wholly electrifying, this Tony-award winning musical
reveals uneasy truths about the American Dream. An
investigation into the personalities of nine individuals
who attempted to assassinate a President of the United
States.
ASSASSINS is Stephen Sondheim's ode to the underbelly
of American history.

Following
last fall’s smash hit THE BLUEST EYE, Company One presents
THE GIBSON GIRL, a quirky new comedy from the award-winning
director-writer team of Victoria Marsh and Kirsten Greenidge. Ruth
is the mother of twin girls with notably different skin
colors. When her adolescent daughters begin to ask questions
about their past, Ruth turns to a $10 psychic for guidance.
But the supernatural reveals more than Ruth expected,
including the scandalous secret that she has kept hidden for
years. Charged with velocity and wit, THE GIBSON GIRL
continues the dialogue about color, class, and opportunity
in America.

“Altogether superb”
Chicago Sun-Times
To start the season,
Company One presents the Boston premiere of one of the
nation’s most revered writers. THE BLUEST EYE is a haunting
and tragic portrait of a black girl's coming of age in the
racially turbulent 1940s. With
rich language and bold vision, this powerful adaptation of
an American classic explores the crippling toll that a
legacy of racism has taken on a community, a family, and an
innocent girl. Directed by award-winning director
and Company One member, Summer L. Williams.
