In School Workshops
Stage One is now making their workshops available to you at your school,
camp, etc. All workshops provide a strong foundation in voice and
movement for the actor, and allow for exploration of a variety of acting
techniques. Workshops vary in length and skill level, but all include
activities which develop communication skills, group dynamic, trust,
accepting other's ideas, and building confidence in one's own ideas.
Playing to Win: 1-3 days
This Stage One workshop is designed with a focus on group dynamic.
Through a series of competitive activities, students become aware of the
importance of working as a team, and giving your best effort in every
situation.
Trust: 1-3 days
This workshop is also designed with a focus on group dynamic, with the
added emphasis on trust. Through a variety of exercises, ranging from
paired to whole group exercises, students learn to trust not only others,
but themselves as well.
Saying Yes: 1-3 days
The Saying Yes workshop is designed to focus the student on acceptance of
ideas. With activities ranging from paired to whole group exercises,
students will learn to honestly listen to and speak with other students,
while accepting the ideas of themselves and others.
Theatre Through Improvisation: 3-5 days
The
workshop is designed to familiarize students with the basic tools
necessary to the art of acting. Through games and exercises, the
participants will learn how to comfortably and confidently act/ react
with others in an improvisational situation.
Advanced Improvisation: 5-10 days
This
workshop offered by Stage One is designed to further advance the
improvisational skills of the student. Students will be challenged with a
more advanced level of exercises and activities, all focusing on skills
necessary for the successful actor.
Character Development: 5-10 days
This
workshop is designed for the student seeking a more advanced and
intensive education in the craft of acting. The Character Development
workshop consists of intermediate and advanced acting techniques which
are taught through developmental exercises and written methods.
Studio: 5-10 days
This
workshop is designed for the student seeking a more advanced and
intensive education in the craft of acting. Studio consists of
intermediate to advanced acting techniques which are taught through
improvisation, monologues, and scene study.
Writing for the Stage: 10-15 days
This
workshop offered by Stage One introduces writers to the fundamentals of
playwriting. Students will learn how to create stories, craft a plot, and
develop full, rich characters. This is a writing intensive course that
will culminate in a completed short script from each student as well as a
workshop performance.
Peace and…Not So Quiet: 3-5 days
This
workshop is designed for the student to explore questions of justice and
peace through the medium of theatre, and will include games and
activities based on trust and the idea of saying yes(accepting). Peace
and…Not So Quiet also involves cooperative work situations, problem
solving and role-playing.
