COMPANY ONE MONTHLY NEWSLETTER, APRIL 2009

GREETINGS!

Spring has sprung here at Company One!

NOW PLAYING...

Following last season?s wild romp AFTER SCHOOL SPECIAL, Company One and Phoenix Theatre Artists are proud to bring back the playwright team of John Kuntz and Rick Park. Finally, The Superheroine Monologues are here! What do you get when you put Wonder Woman, Super Girl, Storm, Lois Lane and the world's most beloved spandex clad females on the same stage? An ass-whooping evening of theatre! Touching, funny and always campy THE SUPERHEROINE MONOLOGUES is an action packed parody that starts in 1940 and travels through the decades. You already know that they can stop speeding bullets, control the weather, and scratch your eyes out, but these dynamic divas promise to answer all the questions you never dreamed to ask. SUPERHEROINE runs at the Boston Playwrights Theatre now through April 26 so use your superhuman ability to CLICK HERE and purchase your tickets before they are gone faster than a speeding bullet!!

MANY THANKS!
Thank you to all who joined us for a great run of THE PAIN & THE ITCH! Everyone agreed it was a scathingly funny, great evening of theater. Congrats to the cast and crew!

Also, the C1 family offers a huge thank you to all who celebrated our TENTH anniversary! We had a rocking good time at the party on March 19. The night was filled with love and support not only for Company One but also for our honorees David Wheeler and Lois Roach. Thank you to all who participated in the auction and helped to make the event possible. Thank you to our guest of honor, Liz Walker, our auctioneer Naheem Garcia and for all of our sponsors. Most of all thank you to the Celebration X committee, who worked tirelessly to make it all possible. For those of you who were unable to join us but sent along a token of appreciation, we thank you tremendously.

Artistic Director, Shawn LaCount is busy gearing up for our summer piece, AFTER THE QUAKE, a gentle tale of life in the wake of earth-shaking disaster. A timid man woos an old flame, enchanting her anxious daughter with whimsical bedtime stories of a six foot frog?s fight to save Tokyo. Adapted from two of Haruki Murakami?s short stories comes an enchanting and deeply moving play that is a testament to healing and hope. Shawn, as director, says "it is one of the most beautiful stories we've ever told." and is excited to bring this unique experience to Boston.
