COMPANY ONE MONTHLY NEWSLETTER, MAY 2009

GREETINGS!

COMING SOON...

Our final production of Season X, AFTER THE QUAKE, is swiftly approaching! Designers are planning, actors are meeting and everyone is so excited to bring you this distinctive piece adapted from two of Haruki Murakami?s short stories. AFTER THE QUAKE is a gentle tale of life in the wake of earth-shaking disaster. A timid man woos an old flame, enchanting her anxious daughter with whimsical bedtime stories of a six-foot frog?s fight to save Tokyo.

Each month we will introduce you to members of the cast and crew. Please help us welcome two new members of the C1 family Sydney K. Penny and Michael Tow.

Sydney K. Penny (Sala) is making her theater debut with AFTER THE QUAKE. Although she has no formal training, Sydney has developed her acting and performance skills through a broad range of experiences, including student and feature films, television, modeling and ballet. She attends Newman Elementary School in Needham, MA where she is a typical 3rd grader.

Michael Tow (Narrator/Frog) is member of the Screens actors Guild and has appeared in Showtime?s Brotherhood and numerous independent films including Real World Versailles, which won Boston's 48 film project as well as "Best Ensemble Cast". He has appeared on stage with the Actors Refuge Repertory Theater in the performance of Laugh Lines and Life Lines. Thespian by night and Certified Financial Planner? by day, Michael owns New Boston Financial, a financial planning company based in Brookline.

Company One invites you to experience a testament to healing and hope in an increasingly vulnerable world with what promises to be a beautiful and mesmerizing evening of theatre, July 17 - August 15, 2009.

Williams was nominated for Outstanding Director, Small/ Fringe Company for VOYEURS. The award ceremony was held Monday May 11th and we are proud to announce that Summer took home the award for Outstanding Director. Congratulations, Summer and to all who were involved in making VOYEURS a critically-acclaimed success!

THEATER MARATHON

The 11th Annual Boston Theatre Marathon was held this weekend as a two-day festival and Company One was fortunate to participate both days. Once again Victoria Marsh and Kirsten Greenidge, the director/playwright dream team, paired up to deliver AT THE READY. Loosely based on the Gloucester Pregnancy Pact headlines that shocked our nation, AT THE READY follows Annie who despite her aspirations and a sense of what?s right, finds herself dealing with two friends and a tremendous amount of peer pressure to make a decision that will change the course of her life. AT THE READY was given a full stage reading as a part of the Warm-up Lap on Saturday and was also featured in a 10-minute slot on Sunday. Congratulations to C1 alum Nyla Wissa, Brittany Lang, Alex Castillo, Michael Cognata and Jackie Davis who performed in the piece.
