COMPANY ONE MONTHLY NEWSLETTER, OCTOBER 2009

GREETINGS!

THE OVERWHELMING PROMISES TO BE A REAL TREAT THIS MONTH

- NO TRICKS!

ON THE MAINSTAGE...

In just two weeks, this must-see exotic thriller of this season will open and the C1 family could not be more excited.

THE OVERWHELMING follows Jack Exley, an American professor who uproots his family and moves to Rwanda in early 1994 to seize the opportunity to do research for his new book. As Jack, his wife and his teenage son encounter foreign culture and eye opening politics, they each find their own brand of trouble. Realizing that in this place no one is exactly what they seem, his family begins to unearth unexpected truths about this tiny, troubled nation... and about themselves. We are pleased to introduce you to some of our fantastic actors working to bring this dynamic story to life.

John Oluwole ADEkoje (Mizinga) is an award winning playwright and filmmaker. His play SIX ROUNDS/ SIX LESSONS had its world premiere with C1 in 2007. John is Playwright in Residence at Company One and UMass Boston, an Affiliate Artist at the Providence Black Repertory Company and Faculty member in the theatre department at Boston Arts Academy. John was just awarded a no-strings-attached $15,000 fellowships from the Boston Foundation as a member of the first group of Brother Thomas Fellows along with 7 other Boston area artists. Congratulations John, the honor is well deserved! And on top of all of that John is a proud C1 board member.

Peter Brown (Woolsey/ Doctor) is making his Company One debut and is thrilled to be working with such a dedicated and talented group of theatre artists. Peter has worked previously at the BCA with The Zeitgeist Stage Company's productions of SEASCAPE, SPIN, THE KENTUCKY CYCLE, STUFF HAPPENS, and BEE-LUTHER-HATCHEE.

Lyndsay Allyn Cox (Linda White- Keeler) is thrilled to be making her Company One debut. Other Boston area roles include Mayme in INTIMATE APPAREL (The Footlight Club), Fran, Betsy, and Molly in THE HEIDI CHRONICLES (The Longwood Players), Betty in SURE THING (The Footlight Club).

Fedna Jacquet (Emiritha/ Waitress/ Market Woman) is excited to be making her Company One debut. She is currently a senior at Brown University with roles in CABARET, DEATH AND THE KING'S HORSEMEN, and FUNNYHOUSE OF A NEGRO. Other Providence area roles include THE ETYMOLOGY OF BIRD (Providence Black Rep), THE BOOK OF DANIEL, ANOWA, AND INKBLOTS (Rites and Reason).
