SEASONS GREETINGS FROM COMPANY ONE!

Don't miss NEIGHBORS!

Have you seen the new neighbors? Richard Patterson is not happy. The family of black actors that has moved in next door is rowdy, tacky, shameless, and uncouth. And they are not just invading his neighborhood—they’re infiltrating his family, his sanity, and his entirely post-racial lifestyle. This wildly theatrical, explosive play on race marks the major debut of Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, member of NYC’s Public Theatre’s Emerging Writers Group. NEIGHBORS is inappropriate for children.

The most controversial and brilliant play of the season.

"Messy, bold, desperately funny and deeply felt: “Neighbors” is worth getting to know."
– Los Angeles Times

"Mr. Jacobs-Jenkins has talent." - The New York Times

Company One heads to New York to receive a National Theatre Company Grant!

2010 was a big year for Company One! This past fall Company One headed to New York City to attend the first ever presentation of the National Theatre Company Grant. Company One was among ten theatres from across the nation to receive the $10,000 grant from the American Theatre Wing. Grants were awarded to theatres that have been in existence for more than five but not more than 15 years in recognition of the vitality of their work in their individual communities.

When asked to speak about Company One's greatest challenge and how its addressed Artistic Director, Shawn LaCount said:

"Our biggest challenge of the past 12 years is getting the audiences from all of these different groups -- cultural, ethnic, social, class -- into one space to share stories that represent a broader community, a more important community, a community that represents urban America. That challenge is one that has existed for us since the beginning and one that we've been fighting successfully for 12 years."
At the event Company One rubbed elbows with Lucie Arnaz, Chair of the National Theatre Company Grants Committee and Angela Lansbury, Honorary Chairman of the American Theatre Wing. Lansbury was ecstatic about the day saying:
"The idea that the Wing has found a new way to support emerging theatre companies across this country is really thrilling. The more I'm talking with you, the more I realize what a huge breakthrough this is for the Wing and I'm very, very proud that you have managed to bring this about."
Introducing...FRINGE WARS!
Fasten your seat belts! Small theatre companies go head to head in a brand new competition to prove they are the best of the best.
