On the Mainstage....
THE ALIENS
written by Annie Baker
directed by Shawn LaCount
as a part of The Shirley, VT Plays festival
October 22 - November 20, 2010
In the town of Shirley, two 30-something dropouts hang out by the dumpster behind the coffee shop where they meditate on music, philosophy, shrooms, and Bukowski. When a teenage employee asks them to relocate, these disillusioned young men find the disciple they’ve been waiting for. A beat-tinged, psychotropic journey, Annie Baker’s THE ALIENS is a funny and heartening look at friendship, ritual, and small town New England. Company One is proud to join the Huntington Theatre Company and SpeakEasy Stage Company in exploring the tiny spaces of our small towns.

NEIGHBORS
written by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins
directed by Summer L. Williams
January 14 – February 5, 2011
Have you seen the new neighbors? Richard Patterson is not happy. The family of black actors that has moved in next door is rowdy, tacky, shameless, and uncouth. And they are not just invading his neighborhood—they’re infiltrating his family, his sanity, and his entirely post-racial lifestyle. This wildly theatrical, explosive play on race marks the major debut of Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, member of NYC’s Public Theatre’s Emerging Writers Group. NEIGHBORS may not be appropriate for children.

THE BOOK OF GRACE
written by Suzan-Lori Parks
April 15 –May 7, 2011
Treasured for her groundbreaking poetic and inventive language, Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Suzan-Lori Parks (TOPDOG/UNDERDOG) has drawn a family portait shattered by issues of rage, revenge, power and betrayal. When a young man returns home to South Texas to confront his father, everyday life erupts into a battle for personal survival. At once fiercely intimate and explosive, THE BOOK OF GRACE weaves the story of three people bound together by love and longing, passion and ambition.

SUMMER SHOW TBA
July 15- August 13, 2011
You know we work hard to bring you the hottest, freshest theatre and we are still working hard to find the perfect summer show. Don't worry, we promise it will be worth the wait!
